What is your name, age, major and hometown?

Liz Churchill, 21 years old, Elementary Education, and Mt. Prospect, IL

What drew you to Woodway?

I went to a church my freshman year and as the year progressed I felt like it was not the church for me. When sophomore year came around, I decided it was time to try a new church. I came to Woodway on that first Sunday and have not left. I remember feeling comfortable and welcomed by friends and other people I had just met. As I continued to attend, I really felt like this was the church home that God had for me, and it has been such a blessing to be involved here at Woodway.

What’s your favorite book? Why?

That’s a tough one. I do not know which book of the Bible is my favorite, but my favorite verse is Romans 12: 12. This verse has been a great reminder of how trusting in Christ will get me through even the toughest times if I am patient while waiting for his will to be done, joyful in the blessings I have, and faithful in Him.

What is something cool that God has done in your life?

I always grew up in a Christian home claiming to be a Christian, but it was not until college that I became a Christ follower. Since I came to Baylor, God has really shown me what it is like to live my life for Him. Now that I know truly what I believe, I love discussing how wonderful our God is with my parents and learning so much from them and seeing how God has strengthened them individually and through their marriage. Here at Baylor, God has given me great friends who are also wonderful examples of Christ followers and are constantly around to encourage me. Seeing how I should live my life through all these people really has changed my heart and how I live my life.

Where do you see God taking you in life?

I really feel that I am called to be a teacher. God has given me the opportunity to attend Baylor and get an education here where I have learned so much about teaching in inner city schools. I love working with students who come from nothing because I am able to care about them and show them love that they may not be getting anywhere else. I really feel that I will be used to share God’s glory best in an inner city school where even though I cannot proclaim my faith, I can still show the love of Christ through my actions. I feel like God is calling me into the mission field as well. I am really passionate about kids in general, but especially children in Africa. I am not sure exactly where I feel called to end up or when, but I know that God has put Africa on my mind for a reason and I would eventually love to go over there and teach children.
