John Funk recently wrote about his summer so far, here’s what he had to say:
I am blessed to have a summer home in Colorado Springs (a.k.a the house I spent most of my life, which has now been converted into a summer home for me). As my friend Joben and I prepare to go to India for the summer, we have loved our time here.
It may be unique to my life, but I perpetually struggle with maintaining the lifestyle I desire when I am home. I noticed the first day I was home how much more difficult it was to saturate myself with God’s presence than it is at Baylor. I am rejoicing because of the evidence of God’s grace in my life. He revealed to me how the history I have with my family affects my expectations of them and their reactions. These expectations prevented me from being the example of Christ to them that I so much desire to be, and it was very frustrating coming home and immediately (again) being hit with that realization. God used my dissappointment to show me how, wherever I am, he is there; therefore, I can be equally “obsessed” with Jesus because he is still around me (and better yet, IN ME). So, that has become my goal and prayer: to fervently pursue Christ at any cost, even at the cost of disrupting a schedule that I’m so familiar with and even altering my interactions/conversations with my family, which isn’t easy. So I’d appreciate a prayer from all you Woodwayians and I look forward to checkin’ in to see how God responds to our corporate prayers this summer!
