Hey everyone, I’m Ted Harrison – the “Social Media” intern this year for the First Woodway College Ministry.
I’d like to give you my thoughts, ideas and hopes behind our website overhaul (that is nearing completion) and more specifically explain why I think this Community Blog can be an incredible tool for engaging one another as a body.
One of the things that caused me to end up at FWCM when I arrived in Waco as a freshman (or maybe better put: how God revealed to me where I was supposed to be) was the heavy emphasis on the Gospel for sanctification and not just merely salvation. As I’ve been a part of this ministry for the past two years I’ve seen the Gospel continually work it’s way into my daily life and the lives of many other friends in our local body. It has been truly incredible to see how a ministry centered on Christ – that always comes back to the foot of the cross – has multiplied and produced fruit in a variety of ways by the grace of God!
I’ve seen the staff and students minister uniquely – to each other, to others – through joyous times, through painful times – and every time Jesus slows me down and reveals the things He is continually doing through our lives I’m humbled and blown away.
The crazy thing is… Though I’ve seen a lot, our ministry is big enough to where I haven’t been able to see the half of it.
I don’t get to participate in every Home Group, I don’t get to go on every Mission trip, or participate every week at Inner City Ministry (ICM) or Homebound or.. or.. or…
We also don’t have time to share all of what is going on during announcements on Sunday mornings. I mean, if we heard everything going on at First Woodway some of us might not make it to our 8 o’clock classes the next morning!
But! I know that any time I get a glimpse of what’s going on in someone’s life or the life of a specific ministry I’m further encouraged and spurred on in the faith. I want to know more, but I know it’s impractical to uncover it all on Sunday mornings.

I’m not saying it’s capable of being exhaustive, or that we’ll even make a real dent in extricating the work of Christ in all of our lives, but it is a great tool and place for us to be able to share more in depth what is going on around the college ministry at First Woodway.
One of the most crucial things that has to happen in order for it to work is for you to take a look. To comment. To ask questions. To tell someone that you read about what’s going on in their life and that you’ve been praying for them (and then actually pray for them).
I don’t mean you have to come look at the blog daily, or that you even should. I just want to encourage you to keep up with what is going on in our ministry and to stay knowledgeable about how Christ proves over and over again that He is the center and mover of what we are doing.
We (Brian Sanders, Stori Long, others and myself) will be keeping this blog up to date – with news from Home Groups, ICM, Homebound, PLC, you all individually and more! So be confident that when you visit there will be fresh content, new faces and community.
