I think this is really good advice/insight. As a sophomore, I'm not quite to the plank yet but there are key steps to that point and getting other people to look at it gives a fresh aspect to it all. Sometimes you just get bogged down in all the details and you can't get past them. I have been blessed with meeting mentors who have always been there for me throughout college thus far. Woodway's college ministry gives you the chance to meet up with adults who attend Woodway (I think it's called the 3 to 1 something something...). It may be awkward at first, but I can't explain how much you will LOVE getting to meet these people and learn what they have to teach you.

"so when we sin we have a hope. And not a hope in our excuses, good works and continual promises to do better." Talk about a back handed encouragement! Full of both conviction and hope. Thanks for the Word

"We pray for contentment, but don’t want to dig up the idols in our lives for fear of losing them. "

"We must continually fix our eyes on Christ and seek dependence and trust in him for our hearts to be shaped and changed to where we can say Christ is enough in trial and blessing, abundance and need."

This couldn't have come at a better time in the semester. The past week I have been trapped in this mindset that no matter how productive I can make my time, I still feel as if there is something always looming over my head. This was compounded today when I dropped by a professor's office to pick up a graded test. To my disappointment, I had not gotten the grade that I anticipated. Ever since I received that grade I've felt crushed. My mind has been in a torrent of "If I were a better student, I would have gotten a better grade" or "If I were a better Christian, I wouldn't think that my self-worth was based on this test grade". But reading this word, and reading this reminder in Scripture of the power of the resurrection, the reality that we are children of a God that brings life to those who are dead is comforting in the wake of a busy semester.

The fact that Paul writes and confesses of his struggling, and the temptation to despair makes me realize that as much as we proclaim Christ, we are still human. Proclaiming Christ does not create a reality where we automatically have all our affairs in the right order, that we have the right theology, that we automatically respond to the reality of life with grace 100% of the time. I am still human, not immune to go through a roller coaster of emotions. But thanks be to God, Christ died so that there could be hope - an understanding that I can't attain my own salvation but not despair at my own weakness, but instead receive a Savior who overcame my own weakness so that I can be saved.
